External storage mounting

On page System -> Devices you can manage the usage of locally-pluggable or network drives. Just choose device partition and mount purpose and press the green sign at right border.

The recommended file system type is EXT3, because it has journalling and kernel code that processes file access functions is tested well and known as very stable. WMS also allows to mount FAT and EXT2 partitions, but notice that using unjournaled file systems (FAT, EXT2) is unsafe to files that you record to it in case of electricity fail and so on. Journalling can be appended to EXT2 partition simply by command 'tune2fs -j /dev/part', where /dev/part is special file of your partition; much better when file system is not mounted.

NTFS file system type is not currently supported for mounting.

You can also mount remote shares - samba and cifs.

We present to you complex mount purpose that is mentioned in select box as 'Custom mount'. It needs some arrangements. If in the root of mounted file system there is folder 'sounds', then it`s content appears accessible in asterisk sound files tree in subfolder 'mounted'; if in the root of mounted file system there is folder 'mohmp3', then it`s content appears accessible in asterisk as Music-on-Hold class 'mounted'. So you can use your own files without duplicating all sounds base on your storage.

Avoid using mountpoint 'Sounds' - it is deprecated by 'Custom mount' and will be removed in future releases.

Use mountpoint 'Voicemail' with care, you should plug/mount it ideally once, when you install and configure your PBX, and never unmount, because you can make important messages unreachable to recepients either by mounting storage when directory of mountpoint already contains mail or by detaching it with unread mail.

CDR mountpoint allows you to save information about all calls through PBX on pluggable device, samba share. Also you can use MySQL CDR backend (on page System -> CDR Configuration) to store that data on remote MySQL server.
